Parking Rules

Parking rules protect visibility, access and safety. Parking too close to intersections, crossings, bus stops or hydrants can create danger.

Key Rules

  • Do not park on footpaths or areas meant for pedestrians.
  • Keep a safe distance from intersections, pedestrian crossings, bus stops and hydrants.
  • Always follow parking, no stopping and clearway signs.
  • Park so you do not block visibility or access for other road users.

Common Mistakes

  • Parking too close to an intersection.
  • Stopping in a no stopping area thinking it is allowed for a short time.

Practical Example

You find a parking space near a pedestrian crossing. Before parking, check that there is enough distance so you do not block visibility.

Quick Check

  • Why should you not park too close to intersections?
  • Can you park on a footpath?
  • What does a clearway sign mean?
