About the WA Learner Test

The WA Learner Licence test is a computer-based test with 30 multiple-choice questions. You need at least 24 correct (80%) to pass. Questions are drawn from road rules, signs, road markings, alcohol laws and safe driving.

Key Rules

  • The test has 30 multiple-choice questions — you must answer at least 24 correctly (80%) to pass.
  • Questions cover road rules, signs, road markings, alcohol laws, overtaking and safe driving.
  • Study the Drive Safe Handbook and practise all topics on KangaLearner before sitting the test.
  • KangaLearner's Learn section, Practice mode and Mock Test mirror the format and content of the real exam.

Common Mistakes

  • Skipping the Learn section and going straight to practice without understanding the rules first.
  • Assuming the passing score is lower than 80% — the cutoff is firm and applies to all learner tests in WA.

Practical Example

The Mock Test in KangaLearner gives you 30 random questions, just like the real test. Aim for 80% or higher consistently before booking your appointment with the Department of Transport.
